Born and raised in Canada, Marie MacDonald has never known a time when music was not present in her life. Marie began singing and playing piano when she was 7 years old and has always enjoyed sharing her music in church, nursing homes, hospitals, prisons, schools, weddings, television, live radio, community events, and concerts.
Currently, Marie lives in Northern Canada and is one of the lead singers, background vocalist and keyboard player in a 6-member blues-rockabilly band, called The Bell Rock Band.

It was by chance on December 26, 2018, that Marie was in Bucerias, Mexico, and heard Reggae music coming from a local establishment. She
then decided to take a seat and listen to the music and, in turn, met the lead guitarist who has become her friend and Producer, Morris Porter of MouriceProduction.
Morris encouraged Marie to get back into writing and recording.

In December 2019 when Marie was again visiting in Puerto Vallarta, Morris asked her to consider writing a song to his Virgyn Riddim.
Although Marie would tell you Reggae is her favorite genre of music, it is not one that she has ever performed in or written for, so this was a challenge.

Throughout their friendship and during the outbreak of Covid-19 across the globe, Marie and Morris have encouraged each other to hang in
there, remain positive, and ‘Hold On’ during challenging times.

Those words were the inspiration for the song she has written using
Virgyn Riddim called ‘Hold On’.
