alex McCue & Allister Quilon

The song Take Us With It came together in 2020 when Morris Porter who has been communicating with Alex for a couple of years called him and asked if he wanted to do another song. Their first encounter was in Bucerias Nayarit Mexico 2016 where they recorded three songs and have been collaborating ever since.

Morris and Alex decided to do a song on the Virgyn Riddim where they both thought there was room for another singer and this is when Allister came in to give the song a little more color. Take Us With It.

Alex is one of the most creative songwriters from New Mexico

Is a musician and activist based in Boston.

He writes songs and performs both solo and with The Group Activity (www.thegroupactivity), a seven-piece band that combines blues, folk, and reggae with the dedicated mission of social change. Alex is fascinated by the ability of music to tell stories, inspire action, and connect with the divine inside each of us. Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Alex has a range of influences from the blend of cultures present there.

Alex also spent time in Mexico, where he had the chance to connect and collaborate with musicians from Mexico, Jamaica, and Australia. Now, living and working in Boston in this turbulent time in the US, he has become more
motivated than ever to use music to make the world a better place.

Bio:

Allister "Star" Quilon is a songwriter, poet, and the lead singer of The Sunset Kings.  His start in the music industry began when his song Stand Up, Stand Tall was featured at the UN Youth Summit in NYC in 2014.  In 2017, his song Symphony Blues garnered recognition from the International Songwriting Competition, and Die For You earned his band a finalist spot in GINA Missing Persons Foundation Songwriting Contest.  He has co-written records with international popstar Miu Haiti, and both April Forrest and Lauren O' Keefe of Boston pop group JADA.  Quilon's unique blend of poetry and lyricism is fueled just as much by literature, activism, travel, and film as it is by underground writers and popular music.

Testimony:
It was an amazing experience working with
Mourice – his production is top notch,
but in addition to that his musical intuition
is always on point and he is patient and
kind in the studio. I’m always excited to
hear what he’s been cooking up, both in
of rhythms and in terms of song concepts.
Working with him was a joy – he offered advice
where it was needed but also let me take my
own direction. He has a strong knowledge of
both reggae roots and the technical piece of
music production, and he even guided and
taught me about mixing, mastering, etc.
Last but not least, he kills it in live shows
🙂 Thank you, Mourice!
